Teaching House London is ideally situated in London’s historic Soho, just metres from Oxford Street and minutes from the theatres of the West End, Chinatown and Fitzrovia. The college was established in 1974 and provides a wide range of English language and teacher training courses. Our students come from all over the world: in a typical year, over 100 nationalities are represented at the College. Our English language courses are accredited by the British Council. Teaching House London is accredited by the British Accreditation Council for Independent Further and Higher Education as a college.

Facilities include a well-equipped library, Wi-Fi internet access and a rooftop cafe/espresso bar. All trainees have access to printing and photocopy facilities.

London also hosts regular "TH Presents..." events where internationally renowned speakers from the ELT world come to the College bi-monthly to give participative and practical sessions on a wide variety of ELT-related topics. Previous speakers have included Michael Swan, Mike McCarthy, Jeremy Harmer and Susan Kay. TH alumni have priority access to these highly popular events.

We are excited to bring back our Face to Face CELTA courses for 2022. We currently have a small schedule of classes running at our Miami, New York, Boston and London centres for our full time courses. Sample Course Schedule

Teaching House London CELTA courses are offered in three modes, full-time and part-time and part-time blended (CELTA online)

The full-time CELTA course lasts 4 weeks, with an assessment in the fourth week. The courses usually run from 10:15 to 18:30, Monday to Friday. In the busy summer months we operate 12:00-20:00.

Part-time CELTA courses take place over 10 weeks, with an assessment towards the end of the course. The courses usually run from 18.30 – 21.30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, along with ten sessions from 10.00 - 16.30 on Saturdays.

CELTA online (blended) is a part-time option with online content during the week and teaching practice in our London center over 14 Saturdays.

What are the accomodation options?

For trainees not based in London, Teaching House London works with local providers to offer a range of accommodation options. All prices are per week. There is an additional £65.00 accommodation placement fee.

Homestay:


In our carefully selected homestay accommodation will feel at home and be able to get on with your course work in friendly surroundings. You will have your own room, and can choose between 3 catering options: self catering, breakfast only, or half-board. London is divided into Zones for transport purposes; Zone 1 is the centre of London going out to Zone 6. Homestay in London Zones 2 - 6 is provided through an accommodation agency. Shared rooms are only available if you are coming with another person at the same time and leaving at the same time. Teaching House London is in Zone 1.

Friendship House - Southwark:



Friendship House is a new, architect-designed, self-catering residence. Well situated in historic Southwark (Zone 1) it is close to a number of underground stations including Southwark, Elephant and Castle, Borough and Waterloo, giving easy access to both the City and the West End. The Tate Modern Gallery, The Globe Theatre and Southwark Cathedral are in easy walking distance.

The House has accommodation for 179 residents in bedrooms with bathrooms en suite, mostly single but with some double bedrooms and nine rooms designed for residents with physical disabilities.

Prices are £270 per week single and £195 per person per week sharing in a twin room.
