CELTA Philadelphia TESOL Course

ADDRESS: Teaching House at North Light Community Center, North Light Community Center, 175 Green Ln, Philadelphia, PA 19127, USA

Philadelphia, coined the "City of Brotherly Love," is the perfect place to study for your CELTA. It is the fifth most populous city in the United States, boasting no shortage of fun and entertaining activities you can enjoy between study sessions. The city is known for its art and culture and contains more outdoor sculptures and murals than any other American city.

If you enjoy the outdoors, you'll want to plan a visit to Fairmount Park, the largest landscaped urban park in the world. Longwood Gardens and Franklin Square also offer gorgeous views. If you prefer a sports venue, you will fit in well with the die-hard fans of Philadelphia's many sports teams: The Eagles, The Phillies, and the Flyers. After the game, you can chow down on Philadelphia's most emblematic foods: the cheesesteak and the soft pretzel.

Philadelphia boasts a rich history as it served as the nation's capital during the Revolutionary War. History buffs will want to be sure to check out Independence Hall, where both the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution were debated and adopted.

In terms of our location, Main St. is about three blocks away from the school, a mile long quaint, fun filled street lined with excellent restaurants –everything form fine dining to ethnic foods to pizza joints. This street is popular and well known in Philly. There are also 2-3 coffee shops including Starbucks but La Colombe has the best coffee and is more “artsy”. There are many other various types of stores ranging from clothing, bikes, furniture, toys, jewelry, etc.
The canal runs along Main St. where there is a bike, walking, running path to enjoy as you like. This is a big plus for “outdoorsy” and exercise people. It actually runs for about 10 miles for those who want “go the distance”. There are also many festivals held along the street throughout the year. The most notable is the Arts Festival in the Spring where artists and crafts people sell their wares.

We know you will enjoy your time in Philadelphia as you participate in your CELTA training. At Teaching House Philadelphia you'll have access to our hand-picked library along with photocopying and printing services. Each classroom is equipped with whiteboards and desks with digital projectors available. The numerous resources provided at Teaching House Philadelphia will allow you to make the most of your CELTA experience in a typical community teaching environment.

In terms of public transport, The Manayunk Train Station/ Manayunk-Norristown line  is a three block walk from the school. There are numerous bus stops as well within a block or 2 - 61, 32, 35, 9 and 27. For those driving there is usually ample street parking available.
