CELTA Riviera Maya

CELTA Riviera Maya TESOL Course

ADDRESS: Teaching House- Riviera Maya. Calle 14 Norte, 171, Entre 5 y 10 Avenida, 77710 Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico

Playa del Carmen, in the heart of the Riviera Maya, is a marvellous place to spend a month taking the CELTA. It has all the advantages of a Mexican Caribbean resort – a dazzling, white sand beach, turquoise sea, a huge range of bars, restaurants and places to stay – and yet it has managed to retain a relaxed, village atmosphere. There is plenty to do and see in Playa and the town is growing fast.

Playa is home to people from all over Mexico, as well as significant numbers of foreign residents from Italy, Argentina, France, the USA and Canada.  And of course, the tourists are the lifeblood of the town and, although there are visitors here all year round, there are distinct high and low seasons.  There are direct flights from most major cities in the USA and Canada to Cancun International Airport which is just 60 km (40 miles) north of Playa. The Riviera Maya offers famously remote beaches on the Caribbean, Mayan archaeological ruins, coral reefs that offer heavenly snorkeling and diving, and much more.

Teaching House Riviera Maya offers a relaxed atmosphere where you will feel like part of a family. The school consists of two adjoining buildings: a colonial style house with a domed roof and terrace at the front which houses the reception, two large student apartments and a new, purpose-built building at the back that contains the teachers' room, the study room, the Internet access room, offices, the classrooms and two more student apartments.

The building is located right in the heart of Playa, but is a quiet oasis of tranquility set back from the main street with a shady courtyard full of exotic trees, plants and a café where delicious Mexican food can be made to order. Alternatively, students have the bars and restaurants of 5th and 10th Avenues just a few steps away.

Teaching House's CELTA trainees have a dedicated resource room full of reference materials and with a quiet place to work. There are 10 spacious classrooms in total. The computer room has internet access and printing and copying facilities, and the building has free WiFi access, so you can use your laptop inside or out. The teaching rooms are on the top floor and have palette desk chairs, a large whiteboard, CD player and (most importantly!) air conditioning.

As a CELTA trainee, you will also have access to our new CELTA Wiki which gives detailed information about the CELTA syllabus and grading, advice on coming to Mexico and living in Playa, and access to all the resources and documents you will need during your course.
