CELTA Certification
CELTA certificate courses are administered by the University of Cambridge but run by private language centers all over the world. Though these language centers provide their own trainers and recruit their own trainees, each has a specific curriculum to follow called the CELTA 5, a curriculum designed by Cambridge. To achieve CELTA certification, candidates must fulfill certain requirements as set out by the CELTA 5 and their trainers.
A Cambridge University CELTA requires candidates to display proficiency in five main areas: the teaching and learning context, language analysis and awareness, language skills, planning and using resources in different contexts, and developing teaching skills and teaching professionalism (these points come directly from Cambridge’s CELTA certification regulations). With a strong focus on teaching practice and written assignments, and through the lens of steadfast professionalism, the CELTA is arguably the most difficult yet most rewarding TESOL certification courses offered. That is, CELTA certification is an unforgettable experience, and often leads to even more unforgettable ones since graduates become qualified to teach English abroad as well as at home (see our CELTA testimonials).
CELTA training courses, as you’re now aware, are offered in over 50 countries, and each language center provides a regulated course sanctioned by Cambridge. At Teaching House, we are proud to offer rigorous CELTA certification, and equally proud to be one of only a few CELTA USA providers.
