A Texas native, Lindsey is thrilled to be in New York as a part of the Teaching House / International House team.
Lindsey earned her B.A. in Communication Studies at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. It was there that she developed a love for writing, teaching, and traveling through her experiences as a writing consultant for native and non-native speakers in Southwestern's Debby Ellis Writing Center, and through researching, taking classes, and doing lots of very informal English teaching with her homestay family and friends in Mali, West Africa through the Gender, Health, and Development program offered by the School for International Training.
Upon graduation, Lindsey worked at Maréchal Lannes—a public school in southwest France—as an English language assistant for the French Ministry of Education. When she wasn’t gorging herself on cheese and French bread, or struggling to conjugate all of her French verbs correctly, she was teaching English to young learners and technical college students. Lindsey also worked as a private tutor for students preparing for English language exams, and as a French-to-English translator for a project with the tourism office in her town. She returned to the US to broaden her language teaching opportunities by completing a CELTA course at Teaching House.
Though New York City is a far cry from Texas, Mali, or the French countryside, Lindsey loves teaching here because of the opportunity to interact with people from all over the world. As a fairly recent transplant, she spends most of her free time enjoying her honeymoon period in the city where everything is fun and nothing is snowy, spending time with her roommates, and searching high and low for the perfect New York City breakfast taco.
