Christina has been teaching English for more than 7 years. After graduating from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, she took her first teaching job in Caracas, Venezuela. Her goal was to do a bit of work but mostly to perfect her language skills in preparation for a career in international relations. Much to her surprise, Christina discovered that she really loved teaching. Since then she has taught people of all ages in various types of classes – general English classes, Cambridge exam preparation classes, business English classes, blended learning classes, classes of English for specific purposes, etc. – in the Czech Republic, Italy, Poland, Russia and Sri Lanka.
In 2007 Christina completed the extensive DELTA course at Akcent International House in Prague. From there she went on to be a Director of Studies for in-company courses and technology at Akcent IH and then to be the Academic Director of the PARK School of English. It was during her time as a DOS at Akcent IH that Christina started doing teacher training as part of the school’s in-service training program. Since then Christina has done a number of teacher training sessions as part of in-house teaching training programs at her schools as well as at conferences and she has recently started her new life as a CELTA tutor here at Teaching House.
Christina’s first impression of New York back in 1996 was that it was a horribly huge and confusing place. Happy to have been wrong, she now enjoys all that the city has to offer – namely the diverse range of food and cultural opportunities.
