Originally from Indiana, Christen is a recent arrival to New York City. However getting from Indiana to New York wasn't a one step process.
Even though she loved the corn in Indiana, Christen decided new surroundings would be better for continuing her education and headed South to study at the University of South Carolina. There Christen got her first interaction with ESL, volunteering as a conversation partner for international students. Also while in school, she travelled abroad to Turkey, India, & Lebanon. These trips only fostered a greater desire to work overseas and with international students.
After graduating with a B.S. in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management, Christen returned to Istanbul, Turkey to earn her CELTA certification. After completing her CELTA, she took a job in the city teaching English in both a language school and university setting.
Christen misses Istanbul but is learning that New York is also a great city. She enjoys the diverse and delicious restaurants and meeting new people everyday. She is looking forward to getting to know the city better and better and to eventually not need a map to use the subway.
In her role as Director of Enrollment, Christen hopes to use her travel and teaching experience to better serve those desiring to become CELTA certified English teachers.
