Abby is originally from England but is currently based in San Francisco, California. She has been teaching for 15 years and has worked in a number of countries including the U.K.; the U.S, Russia, Portugal, Thailand and China. She took her CELTA in 1994 at International House Newcastle (her hometown) and since then has traveled and worked abroad. After completing her University of Cambridge DELTA in 2002 she has been involved in teaching training and has led and participated on a number of CELTA courses both in the U.S. and overseas. Most recently she has worked in Bangkok and Shanghai.
As well as teaching General English classes, she has also taught TOEFL and Cambridge examination classes as well as Business English classes. She is also an active IELTS and Cambridge speaking examiner.
She took her DELTA in 2001 and has recently completed a distance MA in Applied Linguistics/TESOL from Macquarie University; Sydney, Australia.
When she's not in the classroom she enjoys listening to music and going to see bands and being in the outdoors. In the winter she likes to go snowboarding in the mountains and has recently taken up surfing.
